Energy efficient converter-fed drives

PhD student: J. Kedarisetti

State: In progress (started in 2007)

In industrialized countries, more than 65% of the totally generated electrical power is converted to mechanical energy in drives. Therefore, high efficient electrical drives are one of the key demands when saving electrical energy.

In the research project, new approaches for energy efficient speed variable drives are to be developed, implemented at a test set-up and theoretically and experimentally evaluated.

In the project, loss reduction in converters will be a main topic. Additionally, control methods for low-loss operation of machines will be investigated.
